Spencer Gulf Searoad announces the temporary suspension of its Spencer Gulf ferry service for scheduled annual repairs and maintenance of the Aurora V, starting from Monday, 15th July 2024. The vessel will be traveling to a slipway in northern NSW. Regular services are expected to resume on Wednesday, 28th August 2024.

Regrettably, as South Australia lacks appropriate slipways, we have been compelled to travel to Northern New South Wales, where a suitable slipway is available, to conduct necessary repairs, maintenance, and out-of-water inspection.

“We appreciate our customers’ understanding during this temporary service suspension,” stated Sue Cassidy, Manager. “The maintenance work being undertaken will ensure continued efficient service without future interruptions.”

During this period, both our Wallaroo and Lucky Bay offices will remain operational to assist with inquiries, future reservations, and quotes. Online bookings for future travel will continue to be available, with discounts offered for bookings made online.

Spencer Gulf Searoad has transformed travel between the Yorke and Eyre Peninsula, offering a leisurely cruise across the gulf that takes approximately 2.5 hours, a stark contrast to the 400km drive alternative. Onboard amenities include air-conditioned accommodation, television screens, WIFI, and an outdoor observation deck.
